Passion Pursued

“There is nothing like the feeling of riding on the track.”

Like many of us, Fiona fell for riding later in life.

“My passion for motorbikes started back in 2011. My husband bought a sports tourer for us. My then 24 year old son suggested we get motorcycle licenses together.” said Fiona.”Of course, I said yes.”

Fiona has taken a progressive approach to her riding. Staying in the flow channel, making incremental improvements. She started on a CBR125, progressed to a CBR250 and then to her 2015 Suzuki GSX-R 600. Her journey has been punctuated by ongoing rider training. She suffered a serious setback in 2015, hitting a kangaroo at 100km/h. After five months out of the saddle, a shiny new GSX-R delivered by her insurer drew her back to two wheels.

“My very first coaching course back after the accident was a motoDNA ladies day at the South Circuit. I needed to get my mojo back. It was great. I could see the improvements happening.

The track had been calling Fiona and her husband for some time. Their first outing rapidly turned from hobby to lifestyle.

“We got hooked on track days after our first one. I was not a very confident rider but enjoyed track days even if I wasn’t in the fastest group.

As the track addiction took hold, a full time track bike joined the 2015 GSX-R 600 road bike. Fitted with race fairings, the bright Rizla Suzuki blue 2004 GSX-R 600 has sharp looks and performance to match.

“There has obviously been some work done to it. It has heaps of go.” says Fiona. “It has been outstanding, I absolutely love it.

Fiona was back on track last Saturday, turning laps with a motoDNA coach in tow, recording her performance.

“I have done many coaching days with different training companies. I really feel last Sat with motoDNA has been the best. The coach I had was amazing. I could feel myself losing some of my fears.”

“My goal is to become a safer, more confident and faster rider on track. I have no intention of slowing down. There is nothing like the feeling of riding on the track.”

Both Fiona and her husband didn’t waste any time in keeping their progress moving.

“We have booked the July 19th Grand Prix Circuit Rider Academy. We can’t wait to get back out there with motoDNA,” she said
